1969 CB 450

This was my first Honda. I bought it in 1970 in Minot ND. Being the type of person that couldn't stand to ride a totally stock machine, I striped it down and made it a chopper as soon as I got it home. I never rode this bike in its stock form. It stayed a chopper for about 10 years. In the mid 80's I wanted a drag bike and the 450 was chosen.

It wasn't just some wimpy little 450 when I was done. It had a shaved crank, alum rods, cam kit, big bore kit, big flat slide carbs, alum rims and 5" slick on the back. The big thing is the bike was consistent. In bracket racing it isn't it is how consistent you are. I took it to a lot of races and won a few, but it was mostly a lot of fun. In 1990 I converted it to run on alcohol, not so much to go faster but the bike had just turned 21 years old. I still have it. If you look back in the dark dusty corner of my shop there it is.
