Mold Making

Just a reference shot. I should have gotten the model out while you were here.
The
mount for the fuel pump and the filler hole are going to have to be a machined
parts. Do you have machinist you can rely on? I'll do a set of prints on
the parts needed. To make one tank we can just cut apart an old tank, but to
make quantity we will need to have the parts made. The rear mount isn't as
critical. I may be able to work that out.
I
decided to do the hardest parts first. The front fender and the tail are two
piece molds and take the largest amount of prep. You can see in the photos that
I am making the tail a one piece unit. All holes have to be filled with clay and
a center divider is needed to make the separation of the two mold halves. These
are now in the midst of fiberglass lay-up. Molds for the windshield and
headlight have been completed.

The parts are gel coated and the mold is laid up.
Here are some finished parts waiting for something to be mounted to.
