Ken,
It started life as a nekkid, but it's a full-on race bike now. I still put the
tag and lights on for street riding it as well. Those
Lockhart Phillips blinker mirrors I had before were too small for safe highway
riding so I ended up getting a set of GSX-R1000 blinker mirrors off eBay and
made up some aluminum brackets to mount them on the fairing. The mounting spot
is different than the stock mirrors so I had to get a bit creative. I zip tie a
little Wal-Mart driving light on the chin and use an integrated LED taillight
blinker unit for street riding. It was easy to trim up that SS tail you sent me
with the Dremel to make it fit with or without the taillight. I drilled a couple
of holes in the top of the tail and run a zip tie through the old passenger seat
loop to secure it in addition to the under seat bolts. The Suburban Machinery
bars are also gone, since I started racing I needed to get more weight on the
from end. It has CFM-Woodcraft clip-ons and rearsets now. I also didn't like the
stock rectangle master cylinder for a number of reasons, so I replaced it with
the one from Lockhart which is an OEM replacement for an S-Model or GSX-R, with
the external reservoir which is easier to use. I am still using a OEM SV-S
fairing stay with the homemade brackets for the instruments and windscreen, but
I am going to
switch to a race bracket since I tweaked the current one in a crash at Jennings,
and can't get it bent it back exactly right. Also since the last update, I have
added a Penske double clicker shock, which made an enormous difference in the
ride and handling from the OEM ZX-6 Ninja unit I had on there before (adjustable
ride height is great!!), and switched out the 47 tooth sprocket for a 46, again
from Sprocket Specialists. I'll send you another update when I switch to the
race bracket, since I'm going to have to re-fab a bunch of stuff to mount the
instruments, mirrors, and Daytona steering dampener which is also attached to
the fairing stay with a bolt through one of the headlight mounting holes. I'm
also going to fab a more permanent mount for the bullet cam, which you can see
below the right headlight area in a couple of the pics.
